Nhat Quang Tran

Award-winning VFX Supervisor with over 25 years of industry experience. Renowned for his blend of bold creative vision and deep technical expertise, Nhat has collaborated with some of the world’s most renowned directors, top global brands, and leading production companies and agencies.

Born in West Berlin as the first son of Vietnamese immigrants, Nhat was inspired by his parents' work ethic and perseverance. In 2004, he earned his diploma from the prestigious German Film School — one of Europe’s leading institutions for digital production — focusing on 3D facial animation and performance capture.

After starting his career in feature film, he transitioned to commercials in 2010, joining Europe’s post-production powerhouse nhb as a Production VFX Supervisor. In 2017, he became Head of nhb’s Berlin studio, before going freelance in 2019. His freelance journey led him to acclaimed studios including The Mill London, The Mill Berlin, Spellwork, and Storz + Escherich.

In 2020, he was awarded a D&AD Pencil for Creative Use of Technology for Art Helps – Rebuilt From Memories, a project that harnessed image data from Facebook and Instagram to digitally reconstruct cultural heritage sites in Syria lost to war and destruction — and made them accessible in VR for future generations.

In October 2021, Nhat relocated to Los Angeles and became a staff VFX Supervisor at The Mill LA, where he developed cutting-edge visuals and tools, including the Mill’s “HoloDrive” — the world’s first production use of Gaussian Splatting for photographic environment capture.

Following the closure of Technicolor and The Mill, Nhat joined PARIAH Creative, where he challenges conventional VFX workflows and leads the charge in harnessing AI and machine learning to reshape the creative industry.
