I love music videos. I grew up with them and they heavily influenced my visual style. For me they always were the sponge of pop culture. An art in itself, distilling cultural phenomena into heavy visual impact. While I find it easy to create “a cool music video” I always found it hard to create a video which reflects a music’s culture. Until Joplyn approached me with her new song.

THE ART OF THE LOOP

Techno music is fueled by loops. Remixed, re-arranged and re-composed loops in various layers which make this music so unique and the experience so hypnotic. Techno is the Audio Art Of The Loop. I wanted to marry this with a visual art form and culture I adore to the fullest. An art form which for me is The Visual Art Of The Loop – The GIF. Repeats, bounces and crops out of totally different sources are expressing feelings, humor and thoughts the same way Techno music does with samples to touch you. Hearing the song I realized this symbiosis. I wanted to create the first Music Video GIF on Earth and use the same techniques as Techno music on a visual level. The music video should behave like adding visual instead of audio loops and tracks to the music. A thing I called a “Visual Remix”.
